Why are there so many different diets to lose fat on

by Vince

The truth is no one diet suits any particular person. We are all different enough to have to modify whatever diet we are on. It is rare that the author of a diet knows how you feel when you are on their diet because the diet could be perfect for them but it is not perfect for you. The most important thing is that you recognise this and am not afraid to optimise the diet based on you.

If the author refers to certain foods that you can not eat then pick a substitute that has similar macros. If it is a whole food then that is best because there are so many nutrients that are not on a label and scientists have yet to identify. Sometimes it can be an unidentified compound in a food that confers many benefits to you but can make someone else a little ill.

I have often thought about studies and blood tests, on people using the same diet. If we were all the same then we should react in exactly the same way. The people on the studies would report feeling the same and their blood work would be the same as well. This is rarely the case because there are variations in the results. Clearly some people are more suited to the recommended diet and others less so.

The flaw that most diets have is they try to use one size to fit all.

The same could be said of people and disease. If we were so similar why doesn't everyone, on the same diet, develop the same disease? Why do some develop heart disease and others liver diseases? How is it possible for certain animal foods to cause inflammation in certain people where they experience joint pains. Yet others don't have a problem with the same food.

I would say, have some confidence in recording how you feel and don't just go on the results of a study, because by themselves studies only show a likelihood of something not definitive proof that it is definitely going to happen.

There are so many diets out there because there are so many different people. Even if you get a diet that seems suitable you might still need to modify it to suit you - that is the only way to make it a long term success.
